CSKA defenceman Jeremy Roy granted Russian citizenship

Canadian defenceman Jeremy Roy of Moscow's CSKA has been granted Russian citizenship under presidential decree No. 748 dated October 15, 2026.
The document identifies Roy as having been born in Canada on May 14, 1997. Sport-Express, Championat and Match TV reported the citizenship grant on October 16.
In May, Roy told Legalbet that his citizenship application was in progress. He said his wife and child lived in Russia and that he was trying to learn Russian.
Roy has played in the Kontinental Hockey League since the 2022–23 season. He represented Vityaz before joining CSKA and has four assists in 12 games this season.
Golan, a 19-year-old Swiss hockey player also granted citizenship, played for Nizhny Novgorod's Torpedo-Gorky in the Supreme Hockey League.
