Eisenberg says Razzie helped push him towards directing
Jesse Eisenberg said winning a Razzie for playing Lex Luthor made it harder for him to secure roles in major studio films. He said concerns about his acting career encouraged him to focus more on writing and directing.
Eisenberg discussed the experience during a public talk at the BFI London Film Festival, Variety reported. He linked his difficulties to the reception of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the film for which he received the award.
The actor said he began developing films of his own to sustain his career. He subsequently directed When You Finish Saving the World and A Real Pain.
Eisenberg presented his musical comedy The Debut at the London festival. The film closed the event.
