Forecaster sees a chance of first wet snow in central Russia in late October
Central Russia and the Volga region could see their first wet snow in the last ten days of October, according to Phobos forecaster Yevgeny Tishkovets. Other calculations do not yet support that scenario.
Tishkovets told RIA Novosti that southward-moving cyclones could bring a pronounced cooling during that period.
Temperatures could approach zero overnight and reach only 2 to 5 degrees Celsius during the day. Those conditions could allow rain to turn into wet snow.
He cautioned that the date of the first snowfall remains beyond the forecast's five-to-seven-day predictability horizon. The situation should become clearer closer to the weekend, he said.
Tishkovets said new data would allow him to refine the forecast.
