Golden State Valkyries reach WNBA Finals after sweeping Las Vegas Aces

The Golden State Valkyries will play in their first WNBA Finals after beating the Las Vegas Aces 87-77 in overtime. They completed a 3-0 semifinal sweep and will face the Atlanta Dream.
Game 3 took place on October 9 at the Aces' home arena. Regulation ended level before the Valkyries outscored Las Vegas 16-6 in overtime. The club's official website confirms Golden State made all eight of its free throws in the extra period.
Kayla Thornton led the winners with 18 points. A'ja Wilson finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Aces, but her double-double was not enough to extend the series.
The Valkyries reached the Finals in their second season in the league. Opponents Atlanta also went unbeaten in the semifinals, completing a 3-0 sweep of the New York Liberty. Both teams took their first opportunity to secure a place in the championship series.
