Grigorev misses Gravel World Championships while awaiting Australian visa

Russian cyclist Alexander Grigorev told TASS he could not travel to the Gravel World Championships in Australia because his visa application remained pending after more than two months.

The championships took place on October 10–11, 2026, in Nannup, Western Australia. Speaking on October 12, Grigorev said he had been in good physical condition ahead of the race. His account described an application still under consideration, rather than a visa refusal.

Denmark’s Magnus Bak Klaris won the elite men’s title. Belgium’s Florian Vermeersch took silver and Britain’s Connor Swift bronze.

According to the UCI, the 144-kilometre men’s race ended in a four-rider sprint. The winner finished in 4 hours, 9 minutes and 5 seconds.
