Gumennik wins Denis Ten Memorial bronze after four-quad free skate

Petr Gumennik took bronze at the Denis Ten Memorial in Almaty. The Russian skater scored 181.13 points in the free skate and 261.76 across both programs.

Gumennik included four quadruple jumps in Saturday’s performance. He landed a clean quad flip and a quad Lutz-triple toe loop combination. He made an error on the quad loop and fell on a triple Lutz.

Later in the program, he completed a combination involving a triple Axel, double Axel and triple Salchow, as well as a quadruple Salchow. The fall therefore did not prevent him from completing the remaining jumping elements.

Russian skaters swept the men’s podium. Vladislav Dikidzhi won with 312.79 points, followed by Gleb Lutfullin on 277.23. Russia’s skating federation said this was Gumennik’s first medal of the season. He placed sixth at his previous Challenger event in Japan.
