Iranian Revolutionary Guard reports strike on NV Sunshine gas carrier

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on October 9 that the NV Sunshine gas carrier had been struck while attempting to use a route through the Strait of Hormuz that Tehran does not recognize.
The IRGC said the incident occurred hours earlier and caused a large fire in the vessel's engine compartment. RIA Novosti and The New Region identified the company associated with the ship as Nhat Viet.
Anadolu also reported the IRGC's statement about the strike and engine-room fire. The description of the southern route as illegal reflects Iran's position. The statement quoted by RIA provided no information about crew casualties or the vessel's final condition.
