Gaza medics report five deaths in two Israeli strikes

At least five Palestinians were killed in two Israeli strikes in Gaza on October 10, health officials told Reuters. Israel's military said it had targeted militants.
Medics reported four deaths near Panda Mall in Gaza City and another in the Tuffah neighbourhood. In the initial Reuters report, Israel's military provided no further details about the targets of the two strikes.
Israel has intensified attacks on Hamas in recent weeks, accusing the group of rebuilding its weapons supplies and carrying out attacks in breach of the ceasefire. Hamas denies rearming or preparing attacks and accuses Israel of undermining the agreement brokered by the United States a year ago.
The ceasefire envisages reconstruction in Gaza. However, Reuters reported limited progress on implementing terms requiring Hamas to disarm and Israeli troops to withdraw.
Gaza health officials say Israeli fire has killed at least 1,400 Palestinians since the truce was agreed last October. Israel says militants killed four of its soldiers during the same period. Those figures are attributed to the respective authorities.
The war followed the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, when about 1,200 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage. Gaza health officials say more than 74,000 people have been killed in Israel's subsequent bombardment and ground operations.
