Kashpirovsky’s body being taken to Ukraine via Istanbul and Warsaw

The psychotherapist’s nephew told RIA Novosti the coffin was being transported through Turkey and Poland. Earlier reports described different funeral plans.

Psychotherapist Anatoly Kashpirovsky’s nephew told RIA Novosti that his body was being transported from Moscow to Ukraine via Istanbul and Warsaw. Yuriy Mamaev said it would be flown to Istanbul, then to Frederic Chopin Airport in Warsaw, before the coffin was sent to Kyiv. The receiving side would decide whether it would be accepted at Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport, also known as Zhuliany, or at Boryspil.

Mamaev said the coffin had been prepared for transport under international standards, galvanized and placed in a wooden container. At the time of the report, he said, the body was on its way to Istanbul. The nephew had previously said Kashpirovsky was expected to be buried in Vinnytsia beside his mother.

The reported route differs from earlier published funeral plans. On October 8, AIF quoted Mamaev as saying Kashpirovsky had wanted to be cremated, with part of his ashes buried beside his mother in Ukraine. In his latest comment to RIA, the nephew described transporting the coffin. The accounts indicate that the family’s plans have changed, rather than confirming that the transfer has been completed.

Kashpirovsky was born on August 11, 1939, in Stavnytsia in western Ukraine. He graduated from Vinnytsia Medical Institute in 1962 and worked as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist for about 25 years. His “Health Sessions” began airing on central television in 1989. The broadcaster estimated the programmes reached about 300 million viewers.
