Kazakhstan reports 13% rise in September grain exports

Kazakhstan exported about 1.1 million tonnes of newly harvested grain in September, 13% more than a year earlier, Deputy Agriculture Minister Azat Sultanov said.
Interfax-Kazakhstan reported the figures on Oct. 13. Exclusive.kz, which also covered the government meeting, gave a more precise September shipment volume of 1.16 million tonnes.
Sultanov separately discussed the quality of grain arriving at elevators. According to figures carried by Lenta.ru, more than 72.4% of that wheat was third-class grain. More than 47% had gluten content above 28%. These measures describe wheat received for storage, rather than the entire exported volume.
In Akmola Region, the deputy minister said, third-class wheat accounted for 90% and the Hi-Pro category for 70%. Exclusive.kz also reported those regional figures.
The export increase compares September with the same month a year earlier. It does not measure shipments over the full agricultural year.
