KOS-Sintez eliminated from Euro Cup qualifying after Duisburg defeat

KOS-Sintez Kazan lost 12-11 to ASC Duisburg and can no longer reach the main round of the men's water polo Euro Cup.
The Group B game took place in Athens on 10 October. It was the Russian champions' third defeat in qualifying, according to RIA Novosti. European Aquatics confirms the result.
Duisburg won the first two periods 5-1 and 3-2. Kazan cut the deficit by winning the third 5-1, but a 3-3 final period left the German side ahead. Earlier that day, KOS-Sintez also lost 17-11 to Italy's Rari Nantes Savona.
Kazan's final qualifying opponent is Greece's Apollon Smyrnis. Qualification concludes on 11 October. Following Saturday's matches, Savona, Partizan and Apollon had already secured the qualifying places from Group B.
