Two drivers killed in truck collision on Russia’s Kavkaz highway

Two drivers, aged 60 and 25, died when their Gazel trucks collided on the Kavkaz federal highway in Russia’s Stavropol region on October 10, regional traffic police said.

According to the preliminary police account, the crash occurred at about 18:00 Moscow time. One driver lost control and hit the cable barrier separating opposing traffic before the truck crossed into the oncoming lane and struck the other vehicle.

Local outlet ATVmedia, citing traffic police, identified the driver of the first truck as the 60-year-old man. The other truck was driven by the 25-year-old.

Authorities were establishing the circumstances and each driver’s responsibility. The reported sequence remains a preliminary account. It does not establish the final cause of the loss of control or determine either driver’s culpability.
