Kravtsov outlines separate AI speciality in Russian vocational colleges

Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov said Russian vocational colleges train artificial intelligence specialists through a separate speciality, with AI use also incorporated into education standards.
Speaking at a plenary session of Digital Innopolis Days on October 9, Kravtsov said every college speciality includes an artificial intelligence module. He did not identify specific colleges or give student numbers in those remarks.
The minister also announced plans for a sovereign artificial intelligence system for education. The ministry is selecting a technology partner, so his statement does not mean the system has already been launched.
The Education Ministry previously reported a decision to open admissions for a course in integrating solutions using artificial intelligence technologies. At the current forum, it also presented pilot college tools for teaching and developing professional skills.
