Kravtsov outlines AI topics in Russian school programmes

Artificial intelligence topics have been included in several school subjects, Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov said on October 9. He listed computer science, practical work, biology, and the foundations of safety and defence of the homeland.
Speaking at the plenary session of Digital Innopolis Days, the minister also mentioned primary education. He said the subject The World Around Us introduces children to technologies in their surroundings. His account describes technology-related learning at different stages of education rather than solely within computer science.
Kravtsov also said Russian colleges offer a module on using AI and referred to a separate speciality for training in the field. His remarks concerned the inclusion of related topics in educational programmes. The list of school subjects does not in itself mean that AI becomes a separate standalone subject within each of them.
