Kuda resident sentenced to six years and two months for cell-tower arson

Irkutsk Regional Court sentenced an eighteen-year-old Kuda resident to six years and two months in a general-regime penal colony for sabotage. He was also ordered to pay 552,000 rubles to the communications operator.

The regional prosecutor’s office and courts’ press service said he committed the arson in 2026 while still a minor. He received instructions from an unidentified person before damaging mobile-communications equipment.

The courts’ joint press service dated the arson to the night of January 14. Local news outlet IRK.ru reported those details and said the sentence had not yet entered into legal force.

The defendant fully admitted guilt. The regional Federal Security Service identified the offence. Prosecutors said his actions affected the base station’s operation, but the published information did not specify the scale or duration of communications disruptions.
