Lavrov arrives in Tehran for talks with Iran’s leadership

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Tehran on October 19 on a working visit, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported. Meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are scheduled for Monday.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said the planned discussions would cover international and regional issues, focusing on the situation surrounding Iran and Russian efforts to reduce tensions in the region.

Lavrov travelled to Tehran from Bahrain, where the ninth round of strategic dialogue between Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council took place on Sunday.
