Groups of young people gathered again near Piazza Duomo after Saturday’s clashes. People taking part in the unrest broke shop windows and looted stores, damaged street furniture and threw objects at police. Officers used water cannon and tear gas, according to ANSA.
Milan Cathedral closed early to visitors, while the adjacent shopping arcade was cordoned off.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called a public-order meeting for Monday. She said it would consider additional measures against those using lawful demonstrations to commit violence, Tgcom24 reported.
