Moscow completes façade repairs at Gorky Film Studio’s main building

Repairs to the main façade of Gorky Film Studio on Sergei Eisenstein Street have been completed, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced on October 12. Work on the surrounding public space is nearing completion.

The building dates from 1939. The city had previously repaired the courtyard-facing façade, then replaced the roof covering and installed a galvanised-steel canopy over the colonnaded entrance.

Architectural lighting has also been installed. In the adjoining garden, works included laying underground utilities, paving, street lighting, benches and additional planting.

Reconstruction of a classical-style fountain is in its final stage. The renewed outdoor space is expected to open to residents in the coming weeks, according to the announcement.

Completion of the façade is therefore a separate milestone from the planned opening of the garden and fountain.
