Moscow records seasonal frost before forecast daytime warming
The temperature at Moscow’s VDNKh weather station fell to minus 0.1°C on the morning of October 20, marking the season’s first frost there, according to Phobos weather centre forecaster Yevgeny Tishkovets.
Temperatures fell to minus 3.6°C in Cherusti in the Moscow region. Tishkovets linked the overnight cooling to an anticyclone bringing mostly clear skies to central Russia.
He forecast mostly clear weather without precipitation in Moscow during the day, with temperatures of plus 9–11°C. Atmospheric pressure was expected to remain around 765 mmHg.
Relatively warm weather will continue in central Russia. Rain in the south will become more localised, mainly affecting western Crimea, the Kuban coast and the Caucasus slopes.
Beyond the Urals, frontal cloud will bring unsettled weather, with snowfall extending towards Kazakhstan’s steppe regions. Daytime temperatures in southern Siberia are forecast at zero to plus 5°C, with the Altai foothills and upper Yenisei region 3–4°C warmer.
