Russian Premier League to review pitch artwork approvals after Krasnodar incident
The Russian Premier League has decided to review how artwork on pitches is approved after a bull image was removed before Krasnodar’s match against Zenit. League president Alexander Alayev outlined the plan to Sport-Express.
Alayev said the image at Ozon Arena had been applied without approval from Russian Football Union and league regulators. It was removed following a recommendation from the refereeing team.
The match was played in the tenth round of the Russian championship and ended in a 3–2 win for Zenit. After eleven rounds, Krasnodar had 22 points and stood fifth.
Alayev said the league intended to standardise the approval procedure for such images.
