Moscow's mild autumn may last into November, forecaster says

Moscow's golden autumn could continue into early November, forecaster Tatyana Pozdnyakova told RBC. She expects an anticyclone to bring dry weather next week, alongside distinctly colder nights.

Her forecast puts the daytime high on October 19 at no more than 8–10 degrees Celsius. Before then, a cold front crossing the Moscow region is bringing light precipitation, mainly in northern areas. Current overnight temperatures of around 7 degrees will give way to colder nights.

Temperatures could fall to minus 2 degrees overnight into Tuesday. The following days are expected to bring variable cloud without precipitation and daytime temperatures of 8–13 degrees. Pozdnyakova puts that range 2–3 degrees above the seasonal norm.

She stressed that the length of golden autumn varies from year to year. She currently considers an early-November transition towards winter weather more likely.

Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather centre, also forecasts golden autumn lasting until the end of October and dry conditions next week.
