Noemi Alix describes help from strangers on her travels in Russia

French traveller Noemi Alix described friendly encounters during her visits to Russia in an interview published by RIA Novosti on October 10. She said even people in large cities make time to help foreign visitors find their way.
Alix said visitors to Moscow can ask passers-by for directions and receive assistance. She linked her assessment to years of travel rather than to visits to the capital alone.
Discussing reactions to her French nationality, she said roughly half the people she met expressed delight, while the others were neutral. Those observations describe her own encounters while travelling.
According to RIA Novosti, Alix has been visiting Russia for more than 15 years and has travelled to at least 20 regions. Her journeys have included the Caucasus, the Far North and the Trans-Siberian Railway.
She writes a blog about travelling in Russia. After her Trans-Siberian journey, Alix began helping Europeans organise similar trips.
