Novak says Russian diesel tanker is scheduled to leave for US on October 22

The first tanker carrying Russian diesel to the United States is scheduled to depart on October 22, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said. He said signing of the relevant contract was in its final stages.

Novak put the vessel’s displacement at 40 thousand tonnes and said further shipments were expected to follow. His announcement concerned a planned departure from port.

He linked subsequent destinations to the capacity of Russian refineries and supplies available beyond US requirements. He said other countries could also receive diesel.

Novak said the current schedule allowed full export volumes to be restored only by the end of the year, when other countries could again receive their previous volumes.
