Ovechkin extends NHL scoring record with 930th regular-season goal
Alexander Ovechkin scored his 930th NHL regular-season goal against the Seattle Kraken on October 11, extending his all-time league record.
The Washington Capitals forward scored at home. It was his first goal of the 2026–27 season, and the Russian player is 41.
Ovechkin remains the sole holder of the NHL record for goals in regular-season games. That total is distinct from goals scored in the playoffs.
The previous record belonged to Wayne Gretzky, who scored 894 goals in 1,487 regular-season appearances. Ovechkin’s new tally puts him 36 goals beyond that mark.
Seattle won 5–3. Ovechkin’s first goal of the season therefore extended his individual record in a Capitals defeat.
