IRGC warns undersea cables in Strait of Hormuz could become targets

A representative of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has said undersea communications cables in the Strait of Hormuz could become targets. Fars news agency reported his remarks.

Interfax reported on 20 October that the warning came from IRGC representative Brigadier General Hossein Mohebi. He cautioned the United States against new attacks on Iran.

Mohebi said seven major undersea cables crossed the strait and were used to carry internet traffic and commercial data.

The general linked the threat to Iran's security, saying that if the region became unsafe for Iran, it would also become unsafe for others.
