Reuters reports extensive damage to Saudi Aramco headquarters

Saudi Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran sustained extensive damage in the October 13 attack, Reuters reported on October 14, citing three people with direct knowledge of the situation.

The sources said fire spread across several floors of the administrative building in eastern Saudi Arabia. Operations at the complex continued normally, although some employees had been asked to work from home.

Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry had earlier reported a limited fire at an Aramco administrative building following an attack. The assessment of extensive damage therefore comes from Reuters’ sources rather than an official company statement.

Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement, commonly known as the Houthis, had claimed attacks on a Saudi Aramco office, an oil refinery and an airport in Riyadh. The account of damage in Dhahran does not by itself confirm the outcomes of the other claimed attacks.
