Ryazan opens adaptive sports school for combat veterans

An adaptive sports school for combat veterans opened at Ryazan's Academy of Martial Arts on October 15. Governor Pavel Malkov said the region was the second in Russia to establish such a school.
Combat veterans Kamil Izhboldin, a VEB.RF manager, and Dmitry Yushchenko, director of the Adaptive Sports School non-profit organisation, proposed the project. Both have received the Order of Courage, the regional government's press office said.
Regional authorities, State Duma member Liana Pepelyaeva and Sber supported the school's creation. Malkov discussed his support for the project in RIA Novosti's October 16 report.
The new facility will complement the Sosnovy Bor social rehabilitation centre and an adaptive karting school recently opened in the region.
According to the regional government, the project's activities extend beyond training. Participants visit military hospitals, hold sessions for children and take part in team competitions together.
