Samara region honours BARS-Krylya personnel and hands over equipment
Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev presented awards to 16 BARS-Krylya personnel and instructors. Vehicles and drones were also handed over to military personnel, the regional government said.
Members of mobile fire groups and instructors from the Samara training centre at the regional DOSAAF organisation received the governor's For Assistance to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation award.
The regional government said the equipment included three mobile fire systems based on GAZ Sobol vehicles, UAZ Pickup and Niva Travel vehicles, and 130 drones. It was intended for mobile groups and units operating in the combat zone.
BARS-Krylya was established to protect critical infrastructure in the region. Its volunteers undergo training before serving in mobile groups. There are more than 90 such groups, according to the regional government.
Fedorishchev instructed regional security minister Aleksandr Sharkov to arrange the purchase of ten additional vehicles for the unit.
