Six hospitalised after overnight flat fire in St Petersburg

Six people were injured in an overnight fire in St Petersburg's Nevsky district on October 11 and taken to hospital. Emergency crews rescued 16 people from the danger area, the city's emergency ministry office said.

The alarm was received at 1:01 a.m. The fire broke out at 7 Solidarnosti Avenue, building 1, where furnishings in the room and corridor of a one-room flat burned across 27 square metres.

The fire was extinguished at 1:24 a.m., 23 minutes after the initial report. Three vehicles and 15 emergency ministry personnel were deployed to put out the blaze.

The ministry's statement did not specify what caused the fire or how seriously the hospitalised people were injured. It did not report any deaths in this incident.
