Sorokin ties Resch for second in Islanders regular-season wins

Ilya Sorokin recorded his one hundred and fifty-seventh regular-season win for the New York Islanders, drawing level with Glenn Resch for second in club history as his team beat Vancouver 3–2.

The game finished in the early hours of October 14 in Moscow. Sorokin stopped twenty-three shots. The Islanders' website confirmed that he had matched Resch, also known as Chico.

Billy Smith remains the club's regular-season wins leader with three hundred and four. Playoff games are excluded. Another victory would give Sorokin sole possession of second place.

Kyle Palmieri and Matias Maccelli gave the hosts a first-period lead. Vancouver equalised in the second through Max Sasson and Brock Boeser, whose goal came on the power play.

Palmieri scored the winner early in the third period to complete a two-goal night. The Islanders now have three wins and three losses this season.
