St Petersburg lawmakers submit bill to ban vape sales from March 1, 2027

A bill to ban retail sales of vapes and their liquids in St Petersburg from March 1, 2027 to March 1, 2032 has been submitted to the city's Legislative Assembly, speaker Alexander Belsky said.

The Budget and Finance Committee and the Social Policy and Healthcare Commission prepared the initiative. Belsky said it was intended to reduce access to vapes, particularly among children and teenagers.

Two other bills were submitted alongside it. One proposes additional restrictions on tobacco and nicotine product sales at official sporting competitions, children's recreation and social institutions, beaches, waterside recreation areas and religious buildings.

The other would empower the city government to define areas around educational institutions where sales of tobacco, nicotine products, hookahs and related devices are prohibited.
