TypeSafe AI raises $870 million to expand Jev decision model

TypeSafe AI, the developer of Jev, has raised $870 million at a $7.5 billion valuation. Andreessen Horowitz led the round, joined by Sequoia Capital and existing investor DCVC.
The company announced the financing on October 9, less than a month after Jev's September 15 release. TypeSafe AI also said Martin Casado would join its board. Its plans include additional models designed for software automation and more features for enterprise customers.
Jev uses a transformer architecture but does not generate text like a large language model. Instead, it returns probabilities that its developer describes as calibrated decisions. TypeSafe AI positions the approach as a tool for automating tasks, distinct from systems designed to write prose or code.
The company says Jev works substantially faster than language models and uses fewer tokens. It also claims that a third of Fortune 500 companies are already using the product. Those figures represent TypeSafe AI's statements rather than an independent assessment of its customers or performance.
Founded in 2024, TypeSafe AI's co-founders are Diogo Almeida, previously an OpenAI researcher, Sasha Sheng, a former Meta research engineer, and engineer and entrepreneur Erik Gafni.
