ICC reports applications for more than 15 million World Cup tickets

The ICC said on Oct. 13 that fans from 142 countries had requested more than 15 million tickets for the 2027 Cricket World Cup during the first 12 days of its ballot.

The council recorded 4,423,417 ballot registrations covering 15,083,752 tickets. These figures describe requests submitted through the ballot, rather than tickets sold or confirmed attendance. A registration and a ticket application are different measures.

The tournament will take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from Oct. 2 to Nov. 21, 2027. The final is scheduled for the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

Registration for the ticket ballot remains open until Nov. 21, 2026, a year before the final. The ICC’s announcement gives an early measure of demand while applications are still being collected.

ICC chief executive Sanjog Gupta attributed the interest to the tournament’s appeal, Africa as a destination and promotional activity. South Africa will host the event again after a 24-year gap.
