Trump considers joining Saudi strikes against Houthis after Riyadh attack

Donald Trump said the United States would consider joining Saudi strikes against the Houthis following another attack on Riyadh's airport.

Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews before travelling to Tennessee, the president said U.S. authorities would review the situation and decide quickly. His remarks did not announce approval for American participation in the strikes.

The statement followed the 10 October attack on King Khalid International Airport. AP, citing Saudi authorities, reported 12 deaths and more than 300 injuries. The Saudi-led coalition blamed the Iran-backed Houthis.

The airport had also been attacked earlier in the week. Saudi authorities kept it closed on Sunday. Possible U.S. participation is a further step under consideration, but Trump's quoted remarks specified neither a starting date for an operation nor its scale.
