Ukraine imposes emergency power cuts after equipment damage

Ukrenergo reported emergency power cuts in parts of Ukraine on the morning of October 9. The electricity operator linked the restrictions to damaged equipment.

The operator’s Telegram statement did not specify a complete list of affected regions or an estimated repair time. It described emergency cuts introduced in response to damage within the power system.

Interfax-Ukraine, citing DTEK, reported that emergency outages ordered by Ukrenergo had been introduced that morning on Kyiv’s right bank and in the Bucha and Vyshhorod districts of the Kyiv region.

The previous day, Ukrenergo had separately announced restrictions for households and industry in several regions for Friday, October 9. That announcement concerned planned schedules, while the morning notice concerned emergency measures. The areas identified by DTEK are not a complete list of every affected region.
