Ushakov says Trump welcomed Russia's role in efforts to resolve Iran crisis

Donald Trump welcomed Russia's involvement in efforts to resolve the Iran crisis, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on October 10. According to the aide, Vladimir Putin reminded his American counterpart of Russia's offer to remove Iran's enriched uranium.
The presidents discussed Iran during their October 9 evening telephone call. Ushakov said Russia's offer to receive highly enriched uranium remained a possible way out of the diplomatic impasse. His account did not establish American or Iranian acceptance of the transfer itself.
Ushakov said Putin stressed that diplomatic options remained available and that an agreement with Iran should be pursued. Putin also described discussing the situation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during a visit to Turkmenistan. The call additionally covered Ukraine and bilateral relations.
