Zaporizhzhia spokeswoman puts equipment repair time at at least a week

Repairing equipment at the Zaporizhzhia thermal power plant needed to supply the neighbouring nuclear plant will take at least a week, nuclear plant spokeswoman Yevgenia Yashina told TASS.

She said work was continuing under a local ceasefire. Her estimate concerned the duration of such repairs and did not specify a completion date.

Plant representatives said the thermal plant’s equipment was damaged in late September. Rosatom asked the International Atomic Energy Agency to help secure safe conditions for repair crews.

Rosatom chief Alexey Likhachev announced the local ceasefire on October 15.
