Chennai receives 2,483 voter applications during weekend registration drive
Chennai’s election office received 2,483 applications during special voter registration camps on October 10–11, after issuing 3,364 forms, The Hindu reported.
The camps covered the city’s Assembly constituencies and allowed residents to seek inclusion on electoral rolls or submit requests to update their entries.
In Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, officials received 379 applications after issuing 493 forms. Of these, 289 were submitted on Form 6 for inclusion on the rolls, out of 404 such forms issued. Another 90 applications used Form 8 for address changes or corrections.
Anna Nagar recorded 48 Form 6 applications, the lowest figure for that category cited in the report.
DT Next separately reported the same overall totals. It put the number of Form 6 applications received across Chennai at 1,854.
The drive followed the special intensive revision of voter lists ahead of the Assembly elections. The Hindu reported that some residents had been unable to vote because their names were missing from the rolls. Applying through the camps does not itself mean that a name has already been added.
