Belgorod Governor Reports Four Deaths and 12 Injuries Over Past Day

Four people were killed and 12 injured in the Belgorod region over the past day, Governor Alexander Shuvayev said on Oct. 9. Six of the injured remained in regional hospitals.

According to the governor, a married couple died in the Belgorod district. A man was killed in the Valuyki district and a woman in the Grayvoron district. The figures cover the daily reporting period, rather than only the overnight drone attack.

People were injured in five districts: Belgorod, Valuyki, Grayvoron, Rakitnoye and Shebekino. Shuvayev also said a child's initial diagnosis was not confirmed following a full examination at the regional children's hospital.

The governor reported that 205 Ukrainian drones had been shot down or suppressed over the day. Interfax, reporting his statement, said he described 163 attacks on 14 districts, including artillery fire and explosives dropped from drones.

Separately, Russia's Defense Ministry reported 505 drones destroyed overnight across Russian regions. That nationwide figure covers a different geographical area and reporting period. It cannot be added to the Belgorod daily figure as a count of distinct aircraft.
