Germany’s Eventin tanker costs estimated at €3 million, RND reports
Maintaining the tanker Eventin amid a dispute over its confiscation has cost Germany at least 3 million euros, RND reported, citing expert estimates. Daily costs can reach 8 thousand euros.
The vessel must remain operational while confiscation proceedings continue. Costs include fuel for generators and pumps, crew supplies, technical staff and insurance, according to RND reports cited by RIA Novosti and TASS.
The Panama-flagged tanker lost propulsion in the Baltic Sea in 2025 while carrying 99 thousand tonnes of oil. It was towed towards the island of Rügen. German authorities subsequently sought to confiscate the ship in connection with EU sanctions.
The legality of the confiscation remains disputed. TASS reported that the proceedings concerning the tanker and its cargo were before the Hamburg Finance Court.
