Kaluga region to host national vehicle-repair skills contest in 2027

Kaluga region will host the national stage of Russia’s Best in the Profession contest for vehicle-repair mechanics in 2027. Governor Vladislav Shapsha said the organising committee approved the region’s proposal on October 14.
The decision was made at an organising committee meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova. The government information portal Obyasnyaem.rf also published the contest categories and host regions for 2027.
Shapsha said the opening ceremony and theory tests were planned for the Professionalitet vocational training technology park. The practical section is intended to take place at a major vehicle manufacturer.
Kaluga region previously hosted the national sewing category in 2023 and competitions for unmanned aircraft systems operators in 2025 and 2026.
Shapsha also said local employers were offering young vehicle-repair mechanics starting salaries of 50,000 to 120,000 roubles. He presented these as examples of job offers rather than a regional average.
