Kyiv and surrounding region switched back to emergency power cuts on October 11

DTEK announced emergency electricity cuts in Kyiv and Kyiv region on the morning of October 11 following instructions from Ukrenergo. Scheduled outage timetables do not apply during emergency restrictions.

The company had published Sunday's outage schedules the previous evening. After switching to emergency cuts, DTEK said it would provide separate updates about changes.

Power disruptions had already affected Kyiv's metro and electric public transport. Services stopped the day before the new outage announcement, as well as on the evening of October 8.

Ukraine's energy minister Denys Shmyhal said earlier in the week that an important energy facility serving Kyiv had been damaged. He did not identify the facility or state how many customers had lost electricity.

On October 7, Russia's Defence Ministry said it had carried out a large strike on Ukrainian military-industrial enterprises. That statement does not establish the cause of each individual power cut.
