Lahore High Court orders heart medication for Imran Khan's sister

The court directed jail authorities to supply medicines to Dr Uzma Khan during a hearing challenging her preventive detention. It did not order her release.

Justice Abher Gul Khan heard the petition on October 12. Uzma's husband, Ahad Khan, told the court she had a heart condition and needed three medicines each day, asking that they be delivered regularly in jail.

The petitioner, Sakeena Niazi, is the daughter of Uzma's sister Noreen. Counsel also requested clothes, medicines and spectacles for Noreen, as well as access for relatives and lawyers. Those requests should not be confused with the specific medication order for Uzma.

The judge reserved a decision on summoning senior Lahore police and administrative officials in person. Counsel argued their attendance would help clarify the detention notifications.

Uzma and Noreen were detained for 30 days on September 21 under public-order provisions. Their sister Aleema was detained a day earlier. The petition challenges preventive detention, and the medication ruling does not determine the legality of those orders.
