Lille, Nice and Lyon introduce overnight restrictions after unrest
Several French cities are imposing overnight curfews after unrest and looting. Restrictions in Lille and Nice apply to minors, Interfax reported, citing regional news outlet Actu.fr.
Curfews in Lille, Douai, Denain and Wattignies run from 20:00 to 6:00. The prefecture said Lille's measure applies exclusively to minors. The decisions were agreed with local mayors.
Nice's curfew for minors runs from 21:00 to 6:00. Central Lyon has overnight restrictions during the same hours. Lyon's prefecture also banned demonstrations from 18:00 to 21:00.
Paris's curfew covers everyone in designated areas around Place de la Republique and Les Halles from 23:00 to 6:00. It does not cover the entire city.
In Coulaines, restrictions on unaccompanied minors take effect on Monday at 23:00. Curfews for minors are also being introduced in Pointe-a-Pitre and Les Abymes in Guadeloupe.
Marseille has not announced a curfew, but public gatherings and demonstrations are banned.
