Lysenko wins women's keirin world title in Shanghai
Russia's Alina Lysenko won the women's keirin world title in Shanghai on October 18, finishing 0.006 seconds ahead of Germany's Lea Sophie Friedrich.
Russian Cycling Federation vice-president Sergei Kovpanets highlighted Lysenko's tactics in an interview with Sport-Express. He said she had outmanoeuvred her rivals in an event decided by fractions of a second and positioning in a tightly packed field.
Kovpanets linked the result to her preparations for the season and congratulated the rider, her personal coaches and the national team's staff.
Britain's Emma Finucane took bronze, 0.014 seconds behind Lysenko. The official final classification lists Lysenko as an Individual Neutral Athlete.
