A tremor was recorded near the village of Gremyachinsk in Buryatia on the morning of October 9. Local authorities said residents did not feel it.
An earthquake occurred in the waters of Lake Baikal on Friday morning, the administration of the Pribaikalsky district told RIA Novosti. The Baikal Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Geophysical Survey recorded a magnitude of 3.3.
The seismic event was registered at 8:18 a.m. local time, or 3:18 a.m. Moscow time. The point at 52.84 degrees north latitude and 107.51 degrees east longitude is in the lake, near Gremyachinsk.
A representative of the district administration told the agency that the tremors were not felt. Local reports citing the regional geophysical service also reported a magnitude 3.3 earthquake near Gremyachinsk on the morning of October 9.
