Moscow Exchange to add VK shares to innovation sector on October 20

VK shares will join Moscow Exchange’s Innovation and Investment Market sector on October 20. Securities in the sector can qualify for a personal income tax exemption.

As of October 19, the sector contained 70 securities, including shares, bonds and investment fund units.

For Russian tax residents, income from selling qualifying securities is exempt from personal income tax after at least a full year of continuous ownership. Since January 1, 2025, the exemption has been capped at 50 million rubles of income. Income above that threshold remains taxable.

The tax agent applies the exemption. If it was not applied, the investor can contact the tax authority within three calendar years.

VK reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of 43.5 billion rubles, up 17% year on year, and EBITDA of 7.6 billion rubles, up 41%. Quarterly net profit was 328 million rubles, while the half-year net loss narrowed threefold to 3.8 billion rubles.
