Moscow Region Faces Weekend Cooling and Further Heavy Rain

Temperatures in the Moscow region are forecast to fall by 3–5 degrees on Oct. 10–11. Alexander Golubev, head of short-term forecasting at Russia's Hydrometeorological Center, attributed the change to a cold front.
In an Oct. 9 interview with RIA Novosti, Golubev said the front would cross the region on Friday evening and overnight into Saturday. The weekend temperature drop is expected after its passage.
Rain and stronger winds are forecast for Saturday, with the main rainfall expected in the evening and overnight. Wind gusts are possible both at night and during the day. A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued for Moscow and the Moscow region.
Sunday, Oct. 11, should be mostly dry in the capital. However, Golubev said the main front would pass through the region overnight into Monday, bringing locally heavy rainfall of about 20 millimeters over 12 hours. The mostly dry conditions forecast for Sunday therefore do not mark the end of the rainy spell.
