Neha Bora alleges cramped detention-bus cells after fresh Delhi arrest
All India Students’ Association president Neha Bora, detained again during Delhi protests on October 11, accused police of mistreating demonstrators. She posted a video from a bus where she said detainees were confined in cramped separate compartments.
Bora said the bus contained four lockable compartments with inadequate space for detainees. She also alleged that officers verbally abused male protesters and kicked them. The Times of India and South First reported her account. These are allegations, rather than findings by investigators, and their reports do not independently establish every incident she described.
The Times of India reported that Bora was detained near Vijay Chowk as protesters tried to reach Jantar Mantar. It said more than 100 people were detained at different locations across Delhi on Sunday. Student organisations joined the demonstration called by the Cockroach Janata Party.
Demonstrators are demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls. Their accusations against the Election Commission remain disputed.
The latest detentions followed Supreme Court directions requiring authorities to follow legal procedures and refrain from detaining peaceful, unarmed demonstrators outside areas covered by assembly restrictions. South First linked Sunday’s events to the resumption of protests. The reports do not describe a judicial finding on the circumstances of Bora’s own detention.
