Rubtsovsk opens Atlet wrestling centre for children

The Atlet children’s sports centre opened in Rubtsovsk on October 10 with Olympic champions Aleksandr Karelin and Roman Vlasov attending the ceremony. The facility is focused on wrestling.
The centre was developed with the participation of the city’s wrestling federation, whose leaders began their sporting careers in the region. It provides a new venue for children and teenagers to practise wrestling and develop their sporting skills.
Karelin, a three-time Olympic champion and Hero of Russia, encouraged residents to use the facility. He thanked the Rubtsovsk natives behind its opening and expressed hope that training there would help young athletes begin a path towards major achievements.
Two-time Olympic champion Vlasov stressed wrestling’s educational role. He said sport could teach friendship, goal-setting, perseverance and the ability to turn ambitions into results, describing the new centre as a home for wrestlers.
Television presenter Ksenia Borodina was also among the ceremony’s guests. The opening brought figures from sport and public life together around a new venue for children’s training.
